IIRSM Incident Command

Incident Command is designed to give learners an introduction to the skills and attributes required to undertake the role of a site incident controller. At the end of the course learners will be able to recognise the need for an incident controller and effective incident command system. Understand decision making processes ad stressors that can affect this. Identify, gather, assess, and manage information available in an emergency. Establish objectives and formulate plans in the context of an unfamiliar incident situation. Effectively communicate information. Monitor and control resources effectively. Evaluate the effectiveness of plans and adapt as appropriately. Adopt a risk-based approach to incident management from start to closure. Recognise the importance of debriefing and demonstrate identification of lessons learner.
